Family Night

Wendy’s Wiggle, Jiggle and Jam!
Children’s Concert
Friday, July 21 doors open 6:30 pm, show 6:45 pm
     Wendy’s Wiggle, Jiggle and Jam! children’s concert has been getting rave reviews from children, parents and grandparents. If you want a fun, upbeat experience, come to this show. Start moving, singing and feeling happy! Spend 45 minutes moving to original songs that highlight what kids like to do. Baking Cookies, Turtle Wiggling, Alligator Snapping and even Bugs Buzzing. All the children get a chance to lead a song up front, with Wendy. There will be plenty of flags, rhythm instruments and plush toys to keep everyone’s eyes on stage and music perfect for school age, preschool and toddlers.
     Wendy has been performing for Minnesota Libraries, Parks and Schools for over 20 years. She has released four CD’s for children and has been on stage at Taste of Minnesota, Minnesota Zoo, Como Zoo, Children’s Museum and more. Check out her music at and click the music button.

     Help us plan by preregistering, but preregistration is not required to attend. Each child will received a bottle of bubbles after the show.

Field Trip Experiences

Como Zoo
Friday, June 16
     Attractions: Sparky the seal, bear program, gorilla program, daily interpretive talks, seal island demonstration and all the wonderful animals!
Park Policies: We want everyone to enjoy their visit at Como Park Zoo. Please familiarize yourself  with park policies at http://www.
     Strollers for little ones are welcome. Let us know at time of registration if you are planning to bring one so we have space for it on the bus.
    Children must be accompanied by an adult age 18 years or older. Register by June 3.
    $6 per person (School bus transportation and park fee)
    Lunch: 12-12:30 pm (picnic area) Bring a bag lunch or concessions are available.

“Shrek the Musical” at Stages Theatre
Thursday, July 6
     The rousing fairy tale adventure of an ogre turned unlikely hero will be making its way to Stages Theatre this summer! Join us for a fun filled time where we will see a wise-cracking Donkey, a feisty princess, a short-tempered villain, a cookie with an attitude, and other fun characters in Shrek The Musical! This show is for all ages. Note we will not be stopping to have lunch on our way home.
     Children must be accompanied by an adult age 18 years or older. Register by June 20.
     $14 Per person includes admission and school bus transportation.

Lowry Nature Center
Friday, August 11
     Join us for a morning of fun at the Lowry Nature Center! We will be participating in a hands-on program led by a professional educator. Programs usually include a hike, hands on activities, and sensory activities. Wear tennis shoes. We will be going on this trip rain or shine.
Strollers for little ones are welcome. Let us know at time of registration if you are planning to bring one so we have space for it on the bus.
    Children must be accompanied by an adult age 18 years or older. Register by July 10.

Preschool Explorers

Preschool Explorers
    2-day preschool class for 3-5 year olds
    Child must be 3 by September 1, 2017
    At the Middle School, Room E013, 8700 County Road 6 SW, Howard Lake
    This class is designed to prepare young children for their next school experience. Theme-based, fun activities will focus on helping children develop their personal and social skills, language and literacy skills, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies, creativity, physical development and health. A typical day will consist of discovery time, small and large group experiences, story time, snack, and large motor play.
    This preschool class uses Creative Curriculum, as well as Everyday Math and OWL curriculums. These curriculums provide children with a focused approach to meeting appropriate developmental objectives, with a strong emphasis on learning through intentionally planned play activities.     Transportation is available one-way. At the family’s request children can be transported to school by bus. Families will need to transport children home at 3 pm.

Early Learning Scholarships are available with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using federal funding. Through a grant received, financial assistance is available to families that qualify. If you think you might qualify due to income guidelines contact 320-543-4670. Income is based on free and reduced lunch guidelines. You can also qualify if you are enrolled in one of the following public assistance programs: MFIP, CCAP, FRLP, CACFP, SNAP, Head Start or Foster Care.
